Brinkster hooked me in when they sent me an email offering a really low price for the 1st year AND that they were now offering PHP/MySQL. What they do not mention, however, is that while they do have a PHP server and a MySQL server set up and running, their support doesn't know a *beep* thing about it. They also have PHP so crippled you can't do anything worth while with it. Sure, you can pull data from a database, but you can't create secure login areas using sessions OR cookies. You also only get ONE database that you get one chance to name. If you *beep* that up, then you have to email or call them to fix it. Their knowledge base for PHP is mixed in with their ASP knowledge base and most of it is wrong. I used the Connection String example they provided and IT DIDN'T WORK. I used the one Dreamweaver made and it did work. The last straw was when I was asking a support rep on their live chat to help me. After I would ask a question he would post, "Let me look into this.." and would be gone for 5-10 minutes at a time. He finally came back each time and said, "Brinkster does not support the features you wish to use and has no future plans to."
Stick to ASP, Brinkster. You're barely passable at that. |
